OUR ROLE TO HAVE SUCCESS 🙂

🇬🇧 Kibera's artistic project was born with the hope of offering the possibility of social redemption to kids living in difficult situations.

I realized that there are many people in the world who would like to be able to help children and young people in difficulty. International cooperation is objectively a huge business worldwide. The problem is that, like all businesses, this too is exploited and manipulated by those who manage economic and political power.

There is a big problem of trust and communication that makes it difficult to connect between those who need help and those who would like to be able to help in some way.

But the desire and hope really exist, and they are big, because it is human nature. And this is what we need to work on.

-1st problem: trust

It is perhaps the most complex one, building mutual trust is very difficult and requires commitment. From both sides. Only by knowing each other, only by observing the commitment day after day, only by learning to understand each other, we can build the trust that allows us to overcome mistrust and the fear that it is not worth it.

-2nd problem: the connection

Connecting people in need, with those who could help them, is difficult. It is not only difficult because there are so many people in the world, but also because visibility has enormous value, commercial value. Gaining visibility takes work and strategy. Or money, lots of money. And that's not enough, because it's positive visibility that we need!

-3rd: there is another very important thing: convincing others that we are important, that we are really worth something, that helping us, or helping our project, makes the difference.

This is why it is important to work on awareness of our own value.

We are important, you are important, we need to work understanding why.

Both by learning to know where our value lies, and by learning to understand how to enhance it and how to improve ourselves to be people of value.

Working on these three aspects is fundamental for me and for you.

But let's get to the roles. 

What is my role, and that of people like Calvin, Florence and Wesley who work with you?

Certainly to create trust, to work so that this project is truly useful, and to make sure that people around the world understand it.

But my most important role is to make sure that people get to know you, see how valuable you are, and how important it is to help you.

My role should be to work in a way that people want to help you: with money, or by talking about you, or by sharing information and knowledge with you.

Our role is to create knowledge and relationships.

And what is your role?

Your commitment to something, definitely. But not only that.

It is important that you make yourself known by talking about your life, your passions, your hopes, your dreams. About your difficulties and your fears. It is important that we learn to know you, because otherwise you will remain kids like many others, without personality, without character, without feelings... Ghosts, outside your community.

Instead, the moment people get to know you, then you start to count for something, people may start to think about how they can help you, according to their possibilities. And it's not necessarily that they can with money, maybe they can teach you something important, maybe they can help you solve problems, maybe they can introduce you to the right people.

🇮🇹 Il progetto artistico di Kibera, nasce con la speranza di offrire delle possibilità di riscatto ai ragazzi che vivono in situazioni difficili. 

Mi sono reso conto che nel mondo ci sono moltissime persone che vorrebbero poter aiutare bambini e ragazzi in difficoltà. La cooperazione internazionale è oggettivamente un business enorme a livello mondiale. Il problema è che, come tutti i business, anche questo è sfruttato e manipolato da chi gestisce il potere economico e politico.

C'è un grosso problema di fiducia e di comunicazione che rende difficile il collegamento tra chi avrebbe bisogno di aiuto, e chi vorrebbe poter essere d'aiuto in qualche maniera.

Ma il desiderio e la speranza ci sono, e sono grossi, perché è nella natura umana. Ed è su questo che dobbiamo lavorare.

1° problema: la fiducia

È forse quello più complesso; costruire una fiducia reciproca è difficilissimo e richiede impegno. Da entrambe le parti. Solo conoscendosi, solo osservando l'impegno giorno dopo giorno, solo imparando a comprendersi, si costruisce quella fiducia che ci permette di superare la diffidenza e la paura che non ne valga la pena.

2°problema: la connessione

Riuscire a collegare le persone che hanno bisogno con quelle che potrebbero aiutarle, è difficile. Non è solo difficile perché ci sono tantissime persone nel mondo, ma anche perché la visibilità ha un enorme valore, un valore commerciale. Guadagnare visibilità richiede lavoro e strategia. O soldi, tanti soldi. E non basta perché è la visibilità positiva, quella che ci serve!

3°c'è un'altra cosa importantissima: convincere gli altri che siamo importanti, che valiamo realmente qualcosa, che aiutarci, o aiutare il nostro progetto, fa la differenza. 

Per questo è importante lavorare su noi stessi e sulla consapevolezza del nostro valore.

Siamo importanti. Siete importanti, dobbiamo lavorare sul perché. 

Sia imparando a conoscere dove sta il nostro valore, sia imparando a capire come valorizzarlo, migliorando noi stessi per diventare persone importanti nel mondo.

Lavorare su questi tre aspetti è fondamentale per me e per voi.

Ma veniamo ai ruoli. Qual'è il mio ruolo, e quello delle persone come Calvin, Florence e Wesley, che lavorano con voi?

Sicuramente quello di creare fiducia, di lavorare affinché questo progetto sia realmente utile, e fare in modo che le persone nel mondo lo capiscano.

Ma il mio compito più importante è quello di fare in modo che la gente vi conosca, veda quanto siete ragazzi di valore, e quanto sia importante aiutarvi.

Il mio ruolo dovrebbe essere quello di fare in modo che le persone vi vogliano aiutare: con i soldi, o parlando di voi, o condividendo con voi informazioni e conoscenze. 

Il nostro ruolo è creare conoscenza e relazioni.

E qual'è il vostro ruolo?

Impegnarvi, sicuramente. Ma non solo quello. 

È importante che vi fate conoscere parlando della vostra vita, delle vostre passioni, delle vostre speranze, dei vostri sogni. Delle vostre difficoltà e delle vostre paure. È importante che noi impariamo a conoscervi perché altrimenti rimanete ragazzi come tanti altri, senza personalità, senza carattere, senza sentimenti... Fantasmi, al di fuori della vostra comunità.

Invece nel momento in cui le persone imparano a conoscervi, allora iniziate a contare qualcosa, la gente inizia a pensare come vi può aiutare, secondo le proprie possibilità. E non è detto che possano coi soldi, magari possono insegnarvi qualcosa di importante, magari possono aiutarvi a risolvere dei problemi, magari possono farvi conoscere le persone giuste.
